Distance learners who are not enrolled in on-campus classes have access to most in-library resources by making an online request. Materials may be delivered to your home address by US mail to online and other distance learners.
Over 32,000 eBooks are available full-text online from NetLibrary. NetLibrary eBooks can be searched at NetLibrary or by using the DMCnet Library Catalog.
You can use another library closer to you. DMC students have access to several libraries. Students can request materials through interlibrary loan. Students can also obtain a TexShare card that allows direct library borrowing at many libraries throughout the state, including Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, Texas A&M - Kingsville, and Coastal Bend College. Call to ask about these services at 698-1932 or email dcayce@delmar.edu and put “DL Texshare card info” in the subject line.
The library’s website provides access to all kinds of useful information, including the library catalog DMCNet, library databases, links to other colleges, and material about the library itself.
Some of us have studied and trained for YEARS learning how to do library research. So, if you need help, please ask us. Call us at 698-1311 or 698-1877, email refdesk@delmar.edu, or chat live online with a Reference Librarian, just use the chat box on our main page! Helping you is our job – and we like our work.
Most of the content is full-text and complete online. These include magazine, journal and newspaper articles as well as books, encyclopedias and reference works. There are even image databases, television and radio transcripts, and some video files. Database descriptions can be found by using the “About” links under each database on the Reference Resources page or going to the full list of descriptions. Still don’t know which one to use? Ask those reference librarians at 698-1311 or 698-1877 or email refdesk@delmar.edu or chat live online.
Let us know if we are doing something wrong or right! Both libraries have suggestion boxes near the Circulation desks, so give us your suggestions or drop by the Director’s office on the 5th floor of the White Library, call 698-1308 or email to chris@delmar.edu. Finally, if you would like to see a particular book, video, or magazine in the library – let us know, either by phone, email, (listed above) or through the suggestion box. We can’t buy everything, but we will give serious consideration to anything you suggest.
And just one more : while you’re on campus, be sure to get your validated Del Mar College Student ID Card if you haven’t done so already. You may need it to check out a book at our library, use TexShare borrowing privileges at another library, or to come in to use our computers at the Library’s Student Technology Center. ID cards and validation stickers are available at the libraries on both East and West campus starting thirty minutes after opening until thirty minutes before closing. If you are getting your first DMC ID Card, please bring another picture ID for verification of your identity. Thank you in advance.
