Are you planning to get a bachelor’s degree after you graduate from Del Mar College? Do you know your next steps? Complete the transfer checklist below to discover what you need to do to successfully transfer to a 4‑year institution.

Remember: Del Mar College now offers bachelor's degrees in two programs:

  • Explore Your Options (15–30 Credit Hours)

    Recommended when you have completed 15–30 credit hours.

    Are you thinking about earning a bachelor’s degree after Del Mar College? This is the time to explore your goals and learn about transfer opportunities.

    Checklist:

    • ☐ Have you selected a major or program of study for your bachelor’s degree?
    • ☐ Do your major and career goals align?
    • ☐ Have you researched 4‑year universities that offer your intended degree?
    • ☐ Have you attended a transfer fair or spoken with university recruiters?
    • ☐ Have you decided whether online or on‑campus learning is the best fit for you?
    • ☐ Does Del Mar College have a transfer agreement with your school of interest?

    Schedule Advising

     

  • Plan for Transfer (31–45 Credit Hours)

    Recommended when you have completed 31–45 credit hours.

    Now is the time to plan carefully so you stay on track for transfer and graduation.

    Checklist:

    • ☐ Have you contacted or visited the university or universities you plan to apply to?
    • ☐ Have you reviewed admissions requirements on each university’s website?
    • ☐ Are you taking the correct courses for transfer to your chosen institution?
    • ☐ Have you met with an advisor to confirm your degree plan?
    • ☐ Do you know which documents are required for admission (college transcripts, high school transcripts, test scores, etc.)?
    • ☐ Have you requested admissions information from your intended universities?
    • ☐ Do you know important deadlines for:
      • University applications
      • FAFSA
      • Scholarships
    • ☐ Have you discussed your transfer plans with a Del Mar College advisor?

     

    Meeting with an advisor early can help you avoid taking unnecessary courses and keep you on schedule.

    Schedule Advising

  • Take Action and Transfer (46–60 Credit Hours)

    Recommended when you have completed 46–60 credit hours.

    You’re almost there! This stage focuses on completing applications and preparing for your transition.

    Checklist:

    • ☐ Meet with your Del Mar College advisor to confirm you are on track for graduation.
    • ☐ Meet with a transfer advisor at your future university.
    • ☐ Ask about transfer‑specific scholarships and student organizations.
    • ☐ Complete all required admission and financial aid applications.
    • ☐ Request that all required documents (transcripts, test scores, etc.) be sent to your transfer institution.
    • ☐ Pay application fees or ask about fee waiver opportunities.
    • ☐ Monitor your application status and follow up as needed.
    • ☐ Graduate from Del Mar College and send final transcripts to your new university.
    • ☐ Attend orientation and complete all enrollment requirements at your new school.
