Basic Peace Officer Certification (BPOC)

BPOC APPLICATION IS ON-GOING

FOR 2026 SUMMER II-FALL, 23-WEEK DAY POLICE ACADEMY

CLASS SCHEDULE: MONDAY-FRIDAY, 8:00AM-5:00PM

  • February 16, 2026 (Mon)- Application period opens.  To start your application, please email Dr. John Hornsby (Director, Police Academy) at JHornsby@delmar.edu to schedule a phone interview. Please include your email address and telephone number where you may be reached. Dr. Hornsby will contact you to conduct a brief interview. The interview is held for pre-qualification purposes, and an application packet will be issued to pre-qualified applicants only.
  • June 15, 2026 (Mon)- Deadline to submit completed application packet. Packet submission is by appointment only.  Packet will be checked for completeness before it is officially received for final review.

Only for those officially accepted into the Academy:

  • June 24, 2026 (Wed)- Physical fitness test
  • July 2, 2026 (Thu)- Cadet orientation
  • July 6, 2026 (Mon)- First day of classes
  • December 10, 2026 (Thu)- Last day of classes (graduation)

TCOLE In-Service CE Courses

We have added several courses to our Spring offerings.

The following classes will be offered at the Del Mar College Regional Police Academy.  Due to a reduction in grant funding from the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, all courses (except ALERRT) will be charged full price to all attendees.  The cost associated with the course is listed below.  We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to be able to continue to support the coastal bend law enforcement community with no cost courses in the future.

  1. Intermediate Crime Scene Investigations #2106 – April 6th thru April 10th, 2026 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205).  Cost $145.
  2. ALERRT – First Responder Medical #3357 – April 18th thru April 19th, 2026 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-219).  This course is free.  Register at ALERRT.org
  3. New Supervisor Course #3737 – April 21st thru April 24th, 2026 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205). Cost $121.
  4. Basic Instructor #1014 – April 27th thru May 1st, 2026 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205). Cost $145.

TCOLE licensing exams will be held on the scheduled dates beginning at 9:00 AM. Please arrive by 8:45 AM at Police Academy Office #221 in the Public Safety Building (Building #8), 4101 Old Brownsville Rd, and bring your driver’s license. There is currently no cost for the exams.

The TCOLE licensing exam dates are as follows:

  • July 13th, 2026
  • August 3rd, 2026
  • September 14th, 2026
  • October 5th, 2026
  • November 2nd, 2026

Click here to be added to the mailing list and start receiving the most recent calendar updates.  Please note that the updates will be coming from the program email address, dmcpoliceacademy@delmar.edu.
