Program Overview
The mission of Del Mar College’s Paralegal Studies program is to provide excellence in paralegal instruction that is responsive to local, state, and national community needs. Students learn through practical assignments using the latest technology with a high commitment to professionalism.
Del Mar College’s objective is for our students to graduate with the necessary skills enabling them to obtain and retain employment as paralegals or in a related field, or continue their education earning an advanced degree.The Del Mar Paralegal Studies program is approved by the American Bar Association.

Transfer Information
The Del Mar College Paralegal Studies program has an articulation agreement with Purdue Global University. Students who earn an associate degree in Paralegal Studies can transfer into any of Pudue Global's bachelor's programs, including:
- Business
- Technology
- Education
- Criminal Justice
- Social & Behavioral Science
- Legal Studies (e.g., BS in Environmental Policy and Management, BS in Legal Support and Services)

Curriculum
The program does not qualify a graduate to take a state Bar Exam, represent clients in court, give legal advice or provide independent legal services directly to the public except as permitted by law.
The Paralegal Studies program accepts up to 12 semester hours of transfer credit for legal specialty courses to be earned towards the AAS degree or ATC certificate. At least 9 hours of paralegal specialty course work must be through synchronous instruction and be completed at Del Mar College.
