Speech Communication Center

The Speech Communication Center (SCC) provides resources to help you build and improve your communication and presentation skills. While our focus is on speech presentations, all students and community members working on class or public presentations are welcome.

What We Offer:

Instructional Support

• One-on-one tutoring for the entire speech process: researching, formatting, organizing, PowerPoint, and practicing.
• Supportive, non-intimidating environment to develop interpersonal and group communication skills.
• Stress management coaching for first time speakers.

Facilities & Technology

• Computers with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Printer use with 10 free pages per student (if you have large documents speak to lab staff)
• Assistance with creating and using visuals in presentations.
• Video recording equipment (on-site use).
• Support with uploading media to YouTube and Canvas.

Additional Resources

• Library of communication-focused instructional videos/DVDs.
• Private rooms to use for practice, individual or group recordings, or lockdown browser testing.
• Trained staff to guide you through presentations and projects.

Scheduling

• Use the scheduler (soon to be available through this site and accudemia) to reserve times and equipment.
