  • Adult Education

    COMG 1000: Introduction to ESL

    Designed for students whose primary language is other than English. Addresses essential English language skills such as oral language development, sentence structure, and language functions in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English as required to communicate in business and industry. Emphasis on high-frequency vocabulary and phonics; refining oral and written production and listening skills for enhanced job productivity; and increasing control of the English sound system.

    COMG 1001: Intermediate ESL

    Intended to build upon the English language to help students who are interested in learning for general communication, job preparations and conversational purposes. Provides on-the-job dynamic communicative practice for students whose primary language is other than English and introduces students to the uses of the English language in a variety of relevant job-related contexts. 

    COMG 1003: Speech Communication & Rhetoric

    This course is intended to teach and refresh students with basic reading and communication skills needed to be successful in the workplace. Addresses essential listening, speaking, reading, writing and computational skills required by business and industry.

    COMG 1004: Advanced ESL

    A deeper dive into interpretation of factual material and inferences associated with daily and job-related communications through English. Communicative practice for students whose primary
    language is other than English and focuses on recognition and comprehension of analogies, antonyms, and context clues.

    COMG 1006: Reading & Comprehension

    Intended to teach student’s vocabulary and communication skills needed to be successful in the workplace. Addresses mastery of a selected vocabulary of technical/occupational terms, including appropriate pronunciation of terms and use of English language structures required by business and industry. 

    ETWR 1005: Writing & Composition

    Intended to introduce grammar, composition, basic writing and editing skills for technical writing. Focuses on the use of technical terms, graphics, and formatting technical documents for an academic essay. 

    ETWR 1043: Writing & Composition

    Intended to help students further hone their writing skills necessary to composing an effective argumentative essay. Grammar, composition, writing and editing principles, applicable to scientific, technical, and business documents. Topics include sentences, organization of ideas, editing for correctness, unity and coherence, pre-writing, outlining, and revising; and developing business, academic and technical writing. 

    TECM 1003: Technical Mathematics

    Focuses on technical math skills used in the workplace. Solve technical math problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; convert between whole numbers, fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals; perform calculations involving percents, ratios, and proportions; and convert numbers to different units of measurement.

    TECM 1013: Basic Mathematics

    Focuses on basic math skills used in the workplace. Course focuses on basic math skills used in the workplace. Topics include addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and word problems.

    TECM 1041: Algebra 101

    This course is intended to teach and refresh students with technical algebra skills relevant to technical occupations. Topics include equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring and other algebra skills.

    TECM 1049: Geometry 101

    Course focuses on technical mathematical applications used in the workplace. Topics include geometric reasoning, parallel and perpendicular lines, polygons and quadrilaterals, perimeters, and circumference and area that are encountered in the workforce.

  • Career Training

    POFL 1003:  Legal Office Procedures I

    Provides the fundamentals of administrative duties of the legal administrative assistant including types of activities legal support personnel perform, identify the basic components of office technology, and identify elements of professionalism for the legal administrative assistant.

    POFL 1005:  Legal Terminology and the American Legal System

    Introduces students to the American Legal System and legal terminology used for legal secretaries. Presents an overview of legal terminology and how these terms are used in legal settings. 

    POFT 1000: Career exploration/Planning

    An in-depth career exploration course intended to assist individuals navigate and learn about various career options. This includes analyzing personal career interests, surveying and researching career fields with related educational and training requirements, practicing the decision-making process, and job search skills such as completing applications and interviewing.

    POFT 1004:  Business Writing for the Workplace

    This course helps students develop business writing skills. An in-depth study of the basic elements of composition for business writing, so students can compose professional emails, letters, and official documents.

    POFT 1018:  Records and Filing Management

    Develop basic records information management skills for the workplace including manual and electronic filing. Topics include records management, alphabetic indexing, electronic filing management, and storing, retrieving and transferring records. This is an ideal course for anyone working in an office setting.

    POFT 1022: Administrative Office Procedures

    Students will learn Administrative Office Procedures including interpersonal communications, records management, properly prepare business documents; present business data in report form; and learn the essential duties behind administrative positions.

    POFT 1049: Administrative Office Procedures

    Pre-Requisite: POFT 1022

    This course is an intermediary level course providing In-depth coverage of intermediate to advanced level office procedures with emphasis on decision-making, time management, business communications etiquette, records management, goal setting, management theories, and critical thinking. Skills include developing social intelligence, flexibility, management skills, people management skills and prioritizing tasks.

    CDEC 1007: Plan Safe Learning Environments

    Provides the required training in planning a safe and healthy learning environment for children. Students will learn about planning daily routines for meeting the needs of children in early care and education environments. The course meets the requirement for one of the eight subject areas: Planning a Safe and Healthy Learning Environment. The course also meets 15 of the required 120 hours for the Child Development Associate® credential.

    CDEC 1008: Understand Child Learning

    Provides the required training in understanding the principles of child development and learning. Students will learn about the exploration of developmentally appropriate practices in early care and education programs. The course meets the requirement for one of the eight subject areas: Understanding the Principles of Child Development and Learning. This course also meets 15 of the required 120 hours for the Child Development Associate® credential.

    CDEC 1010: Managing Childcare Operations

    Provides the required training in managing an effective program operation. Students will be provided with an overview of components of family childcare management. The course meets the requirement for one of the eight subject areas: Managing an Effective Program Operation. This course also meets 15 of the required 120 hours for the Child Development Associate® credential.

    CDEC 1016: Child Development Associate Credential Training - Infant Toddler

    Program provides the required 120 hours of formal early childhood education training, covering the growth and development of children ages 0 to 36 months, in the eight Child Development Associate® subject areas developed by the Council for Professional Recognition.

    CDEC 1016: Child Development Associate Credential Training – Preschool

    Program provides the required 120 hours of formal early childhood education training, covering the growth and development of children ages 3 to 5 years of age, in the eight Child Development Associate® subject areas developed by the Council for Professional Recognition.

    CDEC 1051: Advancing Children’s Physical/Intellectual Development

    Provides the required training for advancing children's physical and intellectual development. The course is a study of the principles of typical child growth and development from conception through adolescence. Focus on physical and cognitive domains of development.     CDEC 1091: Building Relations with Families

    Provides the required training for building productive relationships with families. The course focuses on childcare workers and the importance of building healthy relationships with children’s families. The course meets the requirement for one of the eight subject areas: Building Productive Relationships with Families. This course also meets 15 of the required 120 hours for the Child Development Associate® credential.

    CDEC 1094: Observing and Recording Children’s Behavior

    Provides the required training for observing and recording children's behavior. The course meets the requirement for one of the eight subject areas: Observing and Recording Children's Behavior. This course also meets 15 of the required 120 hours for the Child Development Associate® credential.

    CDEC 2000: Commitment to Professionalism

    Provides the required training in maintaining a commitment to professionalism as a childcare provider/assistant. The course will review current issues, topics or new/updated guidelines regarding professionalism as a childcare provider/assistant. The course meets the requirement for one of the eight subject areas: Maintaining a Commitment to Professionalism. This course also meets 15 of the required 120 hours for the Child Development Associate® credential.

  • Computer Software Training

    ACNT 1010: QuickBooks

    An introduction to the accounting cycle using Quickbooks. Students will learn computerized accounting functions, editing, record and correct journal entries, designing, and formatting.

    ACNT 1029: Payroll & Business Tax Accounting

    A study of payroll procedures, taxing entities, and reporting requirements of local, state, and federal taxing authorities in a manual and computerized environment. Students will learn computerized accounting functions, editing, record and correct journal entries, designing, and formatting.

    COMG 1040: Managing Microsoft Outlook Email

    Learn to focus on the principles of communication and learn how to organize an email inbox and structure emails for effective and professional responses, and understand the many functions of Microsoft Outlook in a professional setting.

    ITSC 1009: Microsoft Office

    Introduction to business productivity software suites including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and/or presentation software. All instruction will be taught using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.

    ITSE 1094: Intro to A.I. & Chatgpt

    Students will engage in interactive activities and discussions to deepen their understanding of artificial intelligence (A.I.), and understand the potential benefits and risks of A.I. for the future.

    ITSW 1022: Microsoft Excel

    Further development on spreadsheet skills. Students in this hands on course will learn electronic spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel including terminology, functions, editing, designing, formatting, and preparing a spreadsheet.

    ITSW 1046: Intermediate Spreadsheets I

    Prerequisite: ITSW 1022


    Intermediate Instruction in moving and copying cell contents, sorting mathematical, statistical, and financial functions, date and time arithmetic, report generation, and built-in graphics support. Students will create macros; utilize database features; apply data analysis features; and utilize linked worksheets.

    ITSW 1037: Microsoft PowerPoint

    Introduction to computerized presentation graphics that guides students through planning, design, and production of business graphics and charts. Skill development in computer presentation graphics using Microsoft PowerPoint to prepare students for the workforce.

    ITSW 1041: PowerPoint for Intermediate Users

    Prerequisite: ITSW 1037

    An intermediate level course providing in-depth coverage to create
    and modify multimedia presentations complete with slides, charts, and special effects. Students will also use the advanced tools and features in PowerPoint to create and deliver engaging presentations.

    POFT 1010: Basics of Keyboarding

    Introductory level skill development in keyboarding, demonstrating basic keyboarding techniques. Students will learn typing skills in keyboarding to increase accuracy, efficiency and increase typing speeds.

    POFT 1024: Microsoft Word

    Skill development in word processing using Microsoft Word to prepare students for the workforce. Students will learn word processing using Microsoft Word including creating, editing, designing, formatting, and preparing a document.

    POFT 1042: PowerPoint for Intermediate Users

    Prerequisite: POFT 1024


    Intermediate Word processing production techniques. Includes search and replace functions, headers and footers, mail merge, file functions, and printer setup. Demonstrated knowledge on how to use templates, merge files, and manage data on tables. Students will also learn to customize the toolbars and import media by adding graphs or images.

  • Construction Skills Training

    CBFM 1012: basic interior finishing

    Develop skills for interior wall finishing. Includes drywall installation and finishing. Also covers painting, wall coverings, and paneling.

    CNBT 1016: Insulating (Level I)

    Develop skills for building insulation. An introduction to industrial site preparation foundations, insulation formwork, safety, tools, and insulator equipment.

    CNBT 1091: Fundamentals of Rebar/Concrete Reinforcement

    An introduction to site preparation, safety in the cutting and bending rebar according to basic blueprint reading. Emphasis on safely operating rebar cutters, benders, and handling concrete.

    CNSE 1091: Construction Equipment Operator training

    This course will provide the prospective operator with the basic operational principles of backhoes used in construction, and general industry. Stress will be upon safety in setting up, operational controls and principles of operation.

    CRPT 1001:  Carpentry (Part I)

    Knowledge and skills required to erect wood frame structures with emphasis on layout and construction of floors, walls, and roofs. Includes safety procedures for using hand and power tools and structural materials. 

    CRPT 1029:  Carpentry (Part II)

    An introduction to the carpentry trade including safety tools, equipment, terminology, and methods. 

    CRPT 1045Trim and Stairs (Part I)

    Installation of interior finish systems and components including the placement and installation of doors, trim, floor, wall, and ceiling finishes. Emphasis on safe work practices, use, and maintenance of tools and equipment. 

    CRPT 2047Trim and Stairs (Part II)

    Construction and installation of stairs. Includes stair types and parts, wood and metal stairs and the layout and installation of stairs. 

    DFTG 1015Print Reading

    The fundamentals of blueprint reading for the construction industry. Identify the importance and use of construction prints; identify the symbols, terminology, and standard abbreviations; explain the sequence of drawing organization; make the calculations and measurements relative to construction; and interpret construction drawings and scales.

    DFTG 1023: Specific Occupational blueprints

    Interpret sketches and working drawings for a specific occupation areas. Be able to read and understand symbols/graphics and specific terminology required in the interpretation of working drawings for specific occupations. 

    ELPT 1000House Wiring (Part I)

    Presentation of the theory of residential electric circuits. Topics include load calculations and safety in electrical work, installation of wiring, load protection, ground fault and other devices commonly used in 110-volt household applications. 

    ELPT 1002House Wiring (Part II)

    General principles of electrical controls and their components in the electrical power industry. Includes reading electrical diagrams and identifying industrial switches and pilot devices. Introduction to hardwiring and troubleshooting of industrial control relays and timers.

    MBST 1003: Basic Masonry

    Select materials, tools, and equipment for a masonry job; calculate requirements and mix mortar; use masonry tools and equipment; complete masonry projects; and perform masonry repairs. 

    OSHT 1000: OSHA 10-Hour Construction

    The 10-hour class is intended to provide workers with awareness of common job-related safety and health hazards, while the 30-hour class is more appropriate for supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility. An OSHA 10 card proves to employers that you completed 10 hours of OSHA-authorized training on critical workplace safety topics. Entry-level workers with this credential have industry-specific knowledge and skills that help prevent injuries and keep workplaces safe and productive.  Credential/Certificate: OSHA 10 Construction Completion Card

    OSHT 1015: OSHA 30-Hour Construction

    Addresses the common occupational hazards; describe the components of effective workplace design and accident prevention programs; and demonstrate correct selection and safe use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA 30-Hour Construction Department of Labor course completion card.  Credential/Certificate: OSHA 30 Construction Completion Card

    OSHT 1017:  Radiation Safety

    Course will establish basic safety skills for personnel in the Industrial Radiography business who will be working with Gamma or X-Ray Radiation. 

    OSHT 2011:  Process Safety Management

    Explores the major safety issues that affect the work place, including general safety awareness, loss control and regulatory compliance.  This course is an introduction to OSHA PSM Standard 1910.110 and is designed to provide students with an increased knowledge of the primary elements and how these elements apply to the affected workplace community. 

    PFPB 1003: Basic plumbing

    Introductory course on the development of skills and knowledge required to install drains, vents, water lines, gas lines, and plumbing fixtures used in buildings. Install drains, vents, water lines, gas lines, and plumbing fixtures and make basic plumbing home repairs.

    PFPB 1013: Plumbing (Part II)

    An overview of commonly recognized construction skills including pipes, plumbing math, print reading techniques for joining pipe including cementing and soldering and an overview of plumbing fixtures. 

    WDWK 1013: Cabinetry

    Design and construction of base cabinets and wall cabinets for kitchens and bathrooms. Emphasis on the safe use of portable and stationary power tools.

    WDWK 1091: Special Topics of Cabinetry & millworker

    Students learn how to build wood projects using dados, rabbets, and tongue & groove joints. Gain a deeper understanding on how to safely use tools to complete various wood projects. 

  • Healthcare Training

    chlt 1009: principles of healthcare ethics

    This course helps students develop and understand the role ethics in the medical industry. Focus on role of ethics as it pertains to the community setting, including ethical decision-making to health care.

    ECRD 1011: Electrocardiography

    Fundamentals of cardiovascular and physiology including basic electrocardiography procedures, interpretation of basic dysrhythmias, and appropriate treatment modalities. Topics include professionalism, ethics, and medical terminology. Students will be required to perform five EKG’s on other students during the course. Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED or higher education.

    EMSP 1005: emergency medical responder

    This course is targeted at students who are interested in being first responders in an industrial workplace setting. The course is also beneficial for ERT members who are required to have this certification by their company or job site. Students will be prepared for the Texas Department of State Health Services and the National registry of EMTs.

    EMSP 1019: CPR for Healthcare Workers

    CPR/BLS for the Health Care Provider and First Aid certification course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings. This course is credentialed by the American Heart Association.

    HITT 1005: Medical Terminology i

    This course will prepare students for the Medical Secretary program by teaching students how to define, pronounce, and spell medical terms. A study of medical terminology through word origin and structure. Emphasis is placed on building a medical professional vocabulary required for employment.

    HITT 1013: Coding and Insurance

    An overview of skills and knowledge in ICD and CPT coding and claims forms for reimbursement of medical services.

    HITT 1019: Customer service in healthcare

    Students will develop professional customer service skills for the healthcare workspace; and will develop effective communication strategies when working with professionals in the industry.

    HITT 2045: Coding Certification Exam Review

    This course helps students prepare for a coding certification exam. Review of coding competencies and skills; resolve learning gaps to help individuals be prepared for the coding exam.

    HPRS 1091: SPecial topics in healthcare

    This course explores current Knowledge for discussion of end-of-life issues from team roles and perspectives. Prepares healthcare providers to function in hospice, palliative care, and serious illness settings.

    Huwc 1003: unit clerk/coordinator training

    Introduction to the health unit coordinator profession. Topics include instruction in medical charts and forms, medical law and ethics, safety/risk management, and physician order transcription for unit clerks in health care facilities. Includes a faculty supervised practicum.

    NURA 1001:  Nurse Aide (Lecture)

    Classroom and Laboratory preparation for entry level nursing assistants to achieve a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to provide basic care for residents of long-term care facilities. Topics include resident's rights, communication, safety, observation, reporting and assisting residents in maintaining basic comfort and safety. Emphasis on effective interaction with members of the health care team. Concurrent enrollment in NURA 1060 is required. 

    NURA 1041:  Medication Aide for Permit Renewal

    A course for Certified Medication Aides who possess a Medication Aide permit issued by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (TXDHHS). The Medication Aide Permit must be renewed on an annual basis and is a condition for employment. 

    NURA 1060:  Nurse Aide (Clinical)

    A continuation of NURA 1001 that includes a health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts for entry level nursing assistants. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical instructor and clinical training is conducted at a long-term care facility. Concurrent enrollment in NURA 1001 is required

    NURA 2005:  Nurse Aide Skills Refresher

    Refresher for both current nurse aides and students preparing to take the Certified Nurse Aide skills exam. Students will receive instruction on recently developed techniques for effective patient care.

    PHRA 1001:  INTRO to Pharmacy

    An overview of the qualifications, operational guidelines, and job duties of a pharmacy technician. Trains students on the ability to order, stock, package, prepare medications, operate computerized dispensing systems, prepare insurance claim forms and maintain written or computerized patient medication records.

    PHRA 1002:  Pharmacy Law

    Overview of federal and state laws governing the practice of pharmacy. The role of the pharmacy technician and the pharmacist and their associated responsibilities. Includes Code of Ethics, patient confidentiality, and a comparison of legal and ethical aspects.

    PLAB 1023:  Phlebotomy

    Students will study venipuncture techniques including tying a tourniquet, proper assembly of blood transfusion equipment, correct labeling, and communication with patient. Students will gain training on proper blood cultures, blood drawing, and infection prevention.

    PLAB 1061: Phlebotomy Clinical practice

    Students will get hands on experience on phlebotomy practices in a clinical setting; including getting practice for drawing blood from adults, children, and infants.

    PLAB 2000: phlebotomist development

    Skill development in the performance of blood collection and processing methods specific to blood banking. Includes procedures to determine donor eligibility, phlebotomy specimen collection using capillary and venipuncture techniques, and processing and storage of specimens and components.

    POFM 1000:  Basic Medical Coding

    Presentation and application of basic coding rules, principles, guidelines, and conventions utilizing various coding systems. 

    POFM 1006:  Medical Secretary

    Training, skills, and knowledge needed to enter the workforce as a medical secretary. Training includes medical ethics and law, scheduling appointments, mailing procedures, managing health information, and overall office management skills in a Healthcare setting. Students will also receive basic training over insurance and coding, billing reimbursements and health record compliance. 

    SPNL 1001 - Spanish for Medical Professionals – Beginner

    Achieve a competence in medical Spanish through the practice of pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammatical structures, all within the context of the medical professions. Focus is placed on role-play activities that will cover the most common medical procedures in Spanish. 

    SPNL 1002 - Spanish for Medical Professionals – Intermediate

    Instruction in selected vocabulary of technical and medical terms, pronunciations and basic structures used by those employed in the medical field. Translate medical terminology; verbalize Spanish terms, phrases and commands necessary for conducting general medical procedures and examinations. Utilize Spanish phrases for greetings, common expressions and directions.

  • Personal Enrichment

    BMGT 1016:  Balloon Decorating and Marketing

    Learn a variety of balloon techniques including balloon clustering, balloon flower clusters, wall hangings and garland. Also learn to create backdrops, order supplies and marketing.

    COMG 1009:  Effective Public Speaking 

    Emphasizes use of verbal and non-verbal skills to make points clear and effective. Implement strategies for stress-free public speaking; use verbal and non-verbal communication skills to make points clear; organize presentation for understanding and clarity; and present to an audience. 

    EDTC 1002:  Substitute Teacher

    An exploration of the role of the substitute, identification of student needs, behavior modification and classroom management, teach methodologies, school personnel relationships, mandated state standards and growth and development of students.  

    FCTR 101N:  Balloon Pop-Up

    Learn a variety of balloon techniques including balloon clustering, balloon flower clusters, wall hangings, garlands and backdrops.

    FMKT 1005:  Basic Floral Design

    Learn basic principles of floral design and design methods. Topics include basic design styles, principles and elements of design, proper care of cut flowers, positioning of skeletal flowers and filler, cutting and wiring stems, and use of various mechanical aids.

    PHED 119N:  Open Play Pickleball

    This is an open play pickleball class, a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. Students will improve their skills and meet other members of the community who are interested in pickleball.

    PHTC 1004:  Beginning Photography

    This course will target students who are interested in learning the basic fundamentals of operating a digital camera.

    PHTC 1091N:  Adobe Photoshop – Lightroom

    Learn to edit and employ successful retouching techniques to photographic media; utilize text, make color corrections, and learn restoration techniques. Learn to enhance, combine, and edit digital images using both Adobe products.

    PHTC 2004:  Intermediate Photography

    This course will target students who are interested in learning additional photography skills, such as portrait studio, lighting and event photography.

    SPNL 1042:  Spanish for Business

    Development of Spanish oral and written communication skills related to the business environment including medical, business, commercial, and legal terminology, including review of basic Spanish grammar.

    WDWK 103N:  Exploring Woodworking

    The course will begin with a refresher of woodshop safety and the safe and proper use of hand and power tools. The student will select and design a project. Select and estimate the project material, fasteners, and develop a project cut sheet, and will lay out and cut out the parts of the project focusing on the structural integrity of the project and to minimize material waste. The student will prepare the project's surface for gluing and finishing; and will perform a dry fit assembly before gluing, final assembly, fastening and clamp the parts together. Once the assembly has been completed and the glue has cured, the student will unclamp the project, complete the final surface preparation and apply a paint or stain finish to their project.

  • Pipeline

    INMT 1091:  Industrial Pump Operation & Maintenance

    This course is designed to provide instruction to members of various businesses in our region for the operation, maintenance, installation, and removal of various types of pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and other industrial devices. The format is designed to be adaptable to a variety of industrial applications and situations.

    PTAC 1015: Valve Operations training

    This is an introductory course targeted at students who are required to obtain knowledge in operating process valves. The course is also beneficial for process operators who would like to sharpen their skills and understanding of valve operations in their facility.

    PTRT 1091: Oil Spill response training

    Course for familiarization with the hazards of oil spills. Also, to
    know and understand the proper procedures to respond to oil spills in their occupation. Topics address recently identified current events, skills, and knowledge and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the environment and technology. 

    PTAC 1091: Board-Man Familiarization & Troubleshooting

    Participants will learn the purpose and expectations of a board-man, process communication protocol, plant alarms, and conduct trending. Students will also learn the importance of trouble-shooting, methods, processes & procedures with chemical technology.

    PTRT 2005:  Introduction to Pipeline and Petrochemical Industries

    An overview of pipeline design, maintenance, and operations, including safety and regulatory compliance. In addition, this course covers pipeline industry history and development, oil fields, pump stations and oil movements. Students will also learn pipeline “language”. 

    PTRT 2015:  Pipeline Construction and Operations

    The study of the process and safety used in the petroleum industry as relating to the construction and operation of pipelines.

    PTRT 2020:  Corrosion Control and Regulatory Compliance

    Corrosion processed and application of corrosion prevention including coatings and other procedures. This course is designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency and get familiar with pipeline regulatory compliance.

    RELE 1000:  Promulgated Contracts and Forms

    Includes but is not limited to unauthorized practice of law, broker-lawyer committee, current promulgated and approved forms, commission rules governing use forms and case studies involving use of forms.

    RELE 1012:  Law of Contracts

    Elements of a contract, offer and acceptance, statute of frauds, specific performance and remedies for breach, unauthorized practice of law, commission rules relating to use of adopted forms and owner disclosure requirements. 

    RELE 1020:  Finance

    Monetary systems, primary and secondary money markets, sources of mortgage loans, federal government programs, loan applications, processes, and procedures, closing costs, alternative financial instruments, equal credit opportunity laws affecting mortgage lending, Community Reinvestment Act and the state housing agency.

    Law of agency including principal-agent and master-servant relationships, the authority of an agent, the termination of an agent’s authority, the fiduciary and other duties of an agent, employment law, deceptive trade practices, listing or buying representation procedures and the disclosure of an agency.

    ITSC 102N:  Everything Apple – iPhone/iPad

    This introduction to the iPad and its associated software companions expands their understanding of using their Apple devices to use their location services, play games, enjoy other entertainment software, and select accessories. Apple computer literacy and computer integration will also be emphasized.

    Introduction to basic computer hardware and components such as a computer keyboard, mouse, monitor and computer operating system. Recommended for students who have no previous experience working with a computer. 

    ITSC 1007N:  SEP: Introduction to Cyber Security

    Introduction and discussion of topics centered on safe digital practices and cybersecurity. Exploring the various types of scams and software and how to address such scenarios to better prevent falling victim to them.

    ITSC 1012N:  Beginning Computers

    This is the first course in learning the computer. Computer systems and their uses in today's business communities.     ITSC 1014N:  SEP: Computer Basics: Applying Skills in an Open Lab Setting

    Exploration of topics extending from basic operation of a computer and internet browser, not limited to a computer itself. This course is also intended to serve as a form of low level "tech support", in which students are encouraged to bring their devices to be shown how to perform certain actions or to fix a given problem. There will be a new central topic to explore and educate students on each session to ensure that no time is wasted.

    If you have successfully completed POFI 1004, SEP: Windows, or you are familiar with a computer, this course may be your next step. MS PowerPoint can add pizzazz to your meetings or even stand alone. Introduction to computerized presentation graphics that leads the participant through planning, design, and production of business graphics and charts. Presentation files are produced utilizing multimedia software.

    NUCP 1091: 40-Hour Radiation Safety

    A study of atomic structure, radioactivity (primarily alpha, beta, gamma), and the interaction of radiation with matter. Topics include radioactive decay law, gamma attenuation equation, and inverse square law.

    RSTO 2000: Food Service Manager

    This 1-day, 8-hour course provides intense training for basic food safety principles and being able to identify symptoms associated with disease transmissible through food. Training has been designed to mirror real-life situations to help food industry professionals understand critical food safety principles. Certificate is accredited by both American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Conference for Food Protection (CFP).

    BMGT 1004: Workplace Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

    BUSG 1012:  Professionalism in the Workplace

    Helps students develop entry-level skills for the workplace, and focuses in improving/developing professionalism. Identify attitudes and values that contribute to effective work habits. Students will learn about interpersonal skills, communication skills, effects of attitude and behavior in the workplace, and employability skills.

    HMSY 1025N: Storm & Emergency Preparedness

    This course is designed to provide a study of emergency management and preparedness including unique world event issues, strategies for community readiness, information on disasters, and disaster kit preparation. The course will also cover evacuation procedures, travel and coping with special needs.

    LEAD 1000: Workforce Development with Critical Thinking

    Students will gain real world workforce employability skills. This will help anyone in the workforce seeking employment or those seeking to learn additional workforce skills. Skills reviewed will include development of leadership skills and critical thinking strategies that promote employment readiness, retention, advancement, and promotion.

    MRKG 1000: Customer Service Skills for the Workforce

    Helps students develop and/or enhance skills required for quality customer service.  Students will learn the importance of customer service, enhance their communication skills, understanding customers and problem-solving techniques for dealing with upset customers or stressful situations. 

    MRKG 2012: Intro to Search engine Optimization (SEO)

    Helps students develop and/or enhance skills required for quality customer service.  Students will learn the importance of customer service, enhance their communication skills, understanding customers and problem-solving techniques for dealing with upset customers or stressful situations.

    NAUT 1015: maritime safety training

    This Coast Guard-approved course is targeted at individuals wanting a job within the maritime industry sector. It is an entry-level course required for all mariners. Topics include: 1. Basic Firefighting, 2. First Aid/CPR, 3. Personal Survival Techniques, 4. Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities.

    WLDG 1015: Maintenance welding

    This course is an introduction to oxy-fuel and arc welding and cutting practice and procedures. Trainees will learn to safely and properly apply basic welding techniques in general and field maintenance situations. This course includes both lecture and laboratory sessions to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge.

    WLDG 1027:  Pressure Vessel Fabrication I

    Pressure vessel fabrication includes receiving, inspection of material, layouts, fitting, and welding.  Students will also learn the responsibilities of the quality control department such as welding procedures, welder qualifications, NDE, and ASME Code.

    WLDG 1091: special topics for welding technologies

    Specialized course for improving proficiency, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to welding technology and practices. Course is only available when DMC partners with local businesses, wherein students that meet course outcomes meet requirements for new hiring positions.
