White Library Group Study Rooms

Reservations

The primary purpose of the group study rooms is for group study, with priority given to currently enrolled Del Mar College students. Online reservations are available to currently enrolled DMC students.

• Students will need to use a DMC email address to make an online reservation. Reservation Link
• Group study rooms may be reserved up to 1 week in advance.
• Group study rooms can be reserved for up to 2 hours at a time for a maximum of 4 hours per group per day.
• To cancel a reservation, click on the link in the confirmation email sent to your DMC email address.

Community patrons not currently enrolled at Del Mar College can check out a group study room on a walk-in basis and should check in for availability at the Library Service Desk.

Community patrons may be asked to vacate a group study room at the discretion of the Library Service Desk staff to accommodate student requests. Library Service Desk staff also reserve the right to refuse access to patrons who use group study rooms for other reasons.

Checking In

To check into a group study room, students will need to:

1. Check in at the Library Service Desk
2. Present a current DMC student photo ID card with the current semester sticker
3. Show the email confirming your group study room reservation

Community members not enrolled at Del Mar College should check in at the Library Service Desk for availability of study rooms.

Dry-erase markers and erasers are available at the Library Service Desk for use in the group study rooms. Please return to the Library Service Desk before leaving the library.

• Patrons may reserve a group study room for up to 2 hours at a time for a maximum of 4 hours per group per day. Once patrons reach the daily limit, they can request additional time at the Library Service Desk. Library staff will extend a current reservation or add a new reservation based on the availability of group study rooms and pending reservations. If leaving a group study room before the end of the scheduled reservation time, please check out at the Library Service Desk.
• Each group study room has a minimum and a maximum occupancy. For the comfort and safety of library patrons, groups may not exceed the group study room's maximum occupancy. Patrons who do not adhere to the occupancy limits will be asked to relocate to another room or vacate the room to an open study area better suited to accommodate the size of the group. The library has individual study spaces located throughout the building. For groups of 9 or more, please check with the Library Service Desk staff for options.
• Patrons have 15 minutes past the reservation start time to check into the group study room before the room is released back into the queue.
• Patrons needing to leave a group study room for more than 30 minutes within the 2-hour reservation time slot relinquish the remainder of the reservation, releasing the group study room back into the queue. Patrons may make a new reservation for later or upon their return.
• Patrons should gather their belongings a few minutes before the end of their reservation in order to vacate the room in time for the next study group.
• Group study rooms are not soundproof. Please keep the door closed and your volume at a level that respects your neighbors' study time.
• Snacks and drinks in spill-proof containers are permitted in the group study rooms. Patrons are expected to leave the room clean and tidy by disposing of trash in the appropriate bins. See the Food and Drink Policy on the DMC Library website for more information on consuming food and drinks in the library.
• The library is not responsible for unattended items. Unattended items may be collected by the library staff and held for up to one day. Patrons can contact the Library Service Desk to identify and retrieve their items. After one day, items will be taken to the Office of Student Leadership & Campus Life and can be picked up during their regularly scheduled hours.
• Patrons who do not adhere to the group study room rules will be asked to leave and may be barred from making future reservations.

Student Reservations

Reservations are available to currently enrolled Del Mar College students.

2. The email confirming your group study room reservation (it may be on your phone/portable device)

Please check in at the Library Service Desk.

• For your safety, please do not block the exit with the whiteboards.
• Food and drinks in spill-proof containers are permitted in the group study rooms. Patrons are expected to leave the room clean and tidy by disposing of trash in the appropriate bins. • The library is not responsible for unattended items. Unattended items may be collected by the library staff and held for up to one day. Patrons can contact the Library Service Desk to identify and retrieve their items. After one day, items will be taken to the Office of Student Engagement and Retention located on the second floor of the Main Building in MB.213 and can be picked up during their regularly scheduled hours.
• Patrons who do not adhere to the group study room rules will be asked to leave and may be barred from making future reservations.
