Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

Using a password alone leaves your information vulnerable to hacking, placing your personal information at risk. Multifactor authentication is an additional security step when signing in with your Del Mar College email and password. MFA creates a more resilient logon solution, making it harder for attackers to impersonate users.

Features

  • Enhances security by requiring at least two different factors for logon verification including a password.
  • Verification options include an authenticator app (recommended), text message, or phone call.

Designed For

  • Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff

Requirements

  • An active Del Mar College account.
  • MFA must be enabled for the account.

Data Security

  • The most secure verification option for users is an authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator.
  • Text message and phone call verification options are not recommended for high-risk users such as IT and college administrators.
  • Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is required to be used on all systems where specified.
