Tuition Waivers
REDUCED TUITION AND FEES
Attention students! You may qualify for reduced tuition and/or fees if you qualify for one of the following programs. Find more information about the specific requirements by contacting the office listed by the programs. There are time limits for qualifying for the exemption or waiver.
PROGRAMS
- The child of a deceased or disabled Texas firefighter, peace officer, game warden or custodial employee of the Texas Department of Corrections contact Coordinating Board at 1-800-242-3062)
- Blind/Deaf students (show proof to Business Office from the Texas Commission for the Blind, Deaf and Hearing or Rehabilitation)
- Employed firefighters taking courses in a fire science program (show proof of employment to Business Office)
- A student who was in foster care or other residential care under the conservatorship of the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services (provide proof from the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to the Business Office)
- Adopted students formerly in foster or other residential care (provide proof from the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to the Business Office)
- Child of a parent who received TANF benefits for you for at least 6 months of your senior year of high school (provide proof of the TANF benefits to Financial Aid Services)
- Educational aides employed by a Texas public school and pursuing a degree in teacher certification (contact Financial Aid Services)
- Early high school graduate from a Texas public high school (student's high school should send certification letter to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board)
- Senior citizen aged 65 or older and auditing courses up to 6 hours only on a space available basis (contact the Special Services Office 698-1298)
- Students enrolled in classes for which they receive high school and college credit (contact the Admissions and Registrar Office)
- Child or spouse of a deceased Texas Public servant killed in the line of duty on or after September 1, 2001 (provide proof to the Business Office)
- Tuition and fees exemption for Texas Veterans (contact Veterans Office 698-1250)
- Child of a U.S. military member who is missing in action or is a prisoner of war (provide proof from the U.S. Department of Defense)
- Child of a Texas veteran who died as a result of injury or illness related to service in the U.S. military or the National Guard (provide documentation from the military)
All waivers and exemptions must be processed and entered onto the student's account by the 12th class day for each fall/spring semester or by the 4th class day during summer sessions. Refunds will not be retroactively applied to prior and/or the current term after the processing deadline.
