Registration Procedures

  • REGULAR REGISTRATION FOR NEW ESOL STUDENTS

    1. TAKE A CELT (COMPREHENSIVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEST) AT THE ESOL LAB IN THE COLES CLASSROOM BUILDING, ROOM 102, EAST CAMPUS.
    The CELT lasts about 2 hours and 15 minutes and is free. It is not a pass – or – fail test. The test helps the department to know what level of classes you should take. In order to register to take the test, call the ESOL Lab at (361) 698-1695 or (361) 698-1534 to schedule an appointment to take the CELT exam. The following information will be requires: for your name, your telephone number, and the day and time you would like to take the test. If you are unable to call ahead, you can still take the test on the days of on-site registration. 
    2. APPLY ONLINE BY GOING TO www.applytexas.org AND CLICK ON “Create Your Account Now”. SAVE INFORMATION. THEN CLICK ON “Create a new 2-year application”.

    After you submit the online application, you will carry your CELT scores, any records from your former schools, any necessary residency materials (passport, visas, resident card, etc.), and proof of a meningitis vaccination to the Student Enrollment Center in the Harvin Center, Room 127. After you have turned in your application, there will be a waiting period of 5 to 7 business days to process. When your application has been accepted, the computer system will assign you a student identification number. We will use that student identification number to enroll you in classes.     3. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT VISAS, CONTACT THE STUDENT ENROLLMENT CENTER IN THE HARVIN CENTER BUILDING, ROOM 127, OR CALL (361) 698-1290.

    4. BE ADVISED AND REGISTER FOR YOUR CLASSES.
    You need to meet with an ESOL advisor. The advisor will assist you in choosing the classes that best meet your needs. The advisor will register you in the classes. Go to Coles Building, room 134 for directions or call 698-1533.

    5. PRINT YOUR SCHEDULE OUT AT WEB DMC. 
    After reviewing your schedule, you will need to go to the Business Office to pay for your classes or make arrangements for payment. You must go to the cashier and pay your tuition, or your enrollment will be cancelled.

    6. ATTEND THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.
    At the first class meeting, your instructor will provide information about the class, materials, and textbooks that you will need.

    8. HAVE YOUR PICTURE MADE AND RECEIVE ADEL MAR COLLEGE IDENTIFICATION CARD
    The student identification card will enable students to use the White Library, the ESOL Lab, and facilities on the campus.

    9.  COME TO LATE REGISTRATION IF YOU WERE UNABLE TO REGISTER DURING EARLY OR REGULAR REGISTRATION.
